Mindless wanderings of a mindless wanderer.

And it possibly being a viable option.

So I have been writing for days now, and I just figured out what exactly I am doing.

Last week, in a town I spend half my year, Gig Harbor Washington, another student committed suicide. Their has been a total of 7 in 2 years that have committed suicide. People are clamoring that their deaths are due to the elitist attitudes that are portrayed within the town. The new malls, the mansions overlooking coves, the general looks of disdain for anything mundane; a feeling that people are too good for other, get this…people.

It is sickening that people really feel that they deserve more or are better than others. The hypocrisy of it all is sickening, and obviously I am included in that hypocrisy. As are you. No one is perfect, but I am just examining how as people in our society, we are brought up to look out for number one, ourselves. The idea to “get ours” or get your due is so embedded in us, and our selfish motives, that it constantly causes problems. The lovely town of Gig Harbor is not just an occurrence but a pattern throughout the country. The clothes on someones back does not change who that person is or their worth. Nor does the car they may or may not drive. This material culture that we are so obsessed with has made us blind towards humanity. Once again I say I am guilty in that regard. I love technology and what it allows me to do, as well as the luxuries I enjoy that others do not. The key is to embrace what we have, and try to better the situation of others, instead of, frankly, making them feel like shit.

So after days of writing, as well as writing this long drawn out post, I am writing a book.

The Elusive Concept of Humility: The quest for affirmation of others as well as ourselves.

The next few days are going to be brutal school days. 20 Page paper done. Need to write an eight page synthesis paper on my group findings, along with prepare a presentation that will last 30 minutes, all due on Monday. Then a fun little Spanish skit (insert sarcasm here) that goes for 10 minutes on (???topic???). I despise how History majors need an additional year of a foreign language. I did that in high school homies…And to top it off, a bunch of friends are coming to visit this weekend, and I couldn’t be happier.

It all just piled up this weekend. Ruh Roh Raggy.

But Thank you God, for blessing me with my friends, those I have not met yet, and the incredible opportunity you have given me by letting me go to school.
